Acupuncture Treatment for TMJ

TMJ disorders, a type of temporomandibular disorder or TMD, can cause pain in your jaw joint and in the muscles that control jaw movement - often it is not voluntary, and during when the patient is asleep, but can happen during the daytime too for some people.

Other names that TMD is referred to as, may be Jaw clenching, teeth grinding and Bruxism. This page talks about treatment for all of them as one, whilst there may be slight differences in the names, this walks around the same condition, medically speaking.

Causes of TMJ/TMD or Jaw Clenching in Daoist Medicine

In Daoist medicine, there is a deeper rooted cause for this, and TMJ is a possible symptom of it - which should be treated rather than ignored. The possible causes or reasons for TMJ/TMD, can be hormone related, stress related, or even nutrition related. In complex cases, it can be all the above in different combination - therefore, a proper diagnosis is essential to build a proper treatment plan suitable for the patient involved.

Treatment for TMJ using Acupuncture often has great results at our clinic - patients will feel results from the very first treatment, but multiple treatments are required to properly treat the condition. A home protocol may be given, depending on the final diagnosis of the patient's condition, as there can be many reasons for TMJ.

Our Clinic, Eastern Scholars Clinic, is based in London, near London Victoria train station; and have been treating patients for 15+ years.
